The Berlin Concert

The Berlin Concert is a 2006 concert from the Waldbuhne amphitheatre in Berlin, Germany. With over 20,000 fans, it features soprano Anna Netrebko, tenor Rolando Villazón, and tenor Plácido Domingo. Some of my favorite performances are L'arlesiana: "È la solita storia del pastore" (Domingo), Gianni Schicchi: "O mio babbino caro" (Netrebko), "Júrame" (Villazón), Giuditta: "Meine Lippen, sie küssen so heiß" (Netrebko), "La danza" (Villazón), and La traviata: "Libiamo ne' lieti calici" (Netrebko), (Villazón), (Domingo). The Berlin Concert is an exciting and high energy must see performance for opera fans.

The Opera Gala is a 2007 concert from The Festival Theatre in Baden-Baden, Germany. It features soprano Anna Netrebko, mezzo-soprano Elina Garanca, baritone Ludovic Tézier, and tenor Ramón Vargas. Some of my favorite performances are L'elisir d'amore: "Una furtiva lagrima" (Vargas), Samson and Delilah: "Mon cœur s'ouvre à ta voix" (Garanza), La bohème: "O soave fanciulla" (Vargas), (Netrebko), Giuditta: "Meine Lippen, sie küssen so heiß" (Netrebko), "La danza" (Vargas), and the Carmen: "Toreador Song" (Tézier). This is a must see show for all opera fans.

Composed near 1820, Beethoven's Diabelli Variations are some of the best classical music for piano ever. Some of my favorite variations are 4, 10, 19, and 32. All of these are performed with great piano playing by Maurizio Pollini.
